Carolyn oversees the Renovaré Institute of Christian Spiritual Formation as well as several other Renovaré initiatives, including the Book Club. She is also a recording artist, speaker, author, and college instructor. She lives near Vancouver, BC, with her husband Mark and their two children.
Lacy is the author of Life with God for Children, a curriculum for spiritual formation with children. She is the coauthor of Good Dirt: A Devotional for the Spiritual Formation of Families, which is built around the Seasons of the Church. She teaches at retreats and conferences. It is her joy to walk with people on their spiritual journey. Her website is Good Dirt Ministries.
Margaret is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Interior Design from the School of Architecture. After giving leadership to many different volunteer efforts in Houston, Margaret coordinated the 1997 Houston Regional Conference and the 1999 Renovaré International Conference. She joined the Ministry Team in 1999. She serves on the advisory council for The Art Project Houston and is a member of the Salvation Army Guild. Margaret and her husband Justin have two married children and three grandchildren.
Inspirational speaker, motivational teacher, author, and founding Board Member of the Bread of Life Homeless Project, Juanita and her husband Rudy co-pastor St. John’s United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. She is also the founder of The Art Project: Houston, a ministry that heals through art. Read their story in Touch: The Power of Touch in Transforming Lives.
Glandion is an associate pastor at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Birmingham, Alabama. He came to Christ in the inner city 40 years ago and still maintains a relationship with the person who led him to Christ. He is passionate about personal evangelism and cites the work of Richard Foster’s Celebration of Discipline as a key to his spiritual growth. He has spent his life trying to nurture others within the church and helping them grow in their faith through transformation principles. He and his wife Marion have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.
James Catford is on Renovaré’s Board and Ministry Team. He served for many years as Bible Society’s Group Chief Executive in the UK. He has a background in commercial book publishing having been publishing director at both HodderHeadline and HarperCollins. His non-executive roles include chair of Renovaré Britain & Ireland and the Apprentice Institute at Friend’s University, and also vice-chair of the Amity Printing Company in Nanjing, China. He is married to Sue, and they live in central London.
Linda received her call into the ministry while visiting the Holy Land in 1997 and upon returning to the United States, enrolled in Perkins School of Theology. After graduation from Perkins, Linda became an elder in the United Methodist Church and currently serves as the Executive Pastor at St. Luke’s UMC. She received her Doctor of Ministry degree at Fuller Seminary in 2010. Linda is the author of the book, Creating Team Leadership: Theory, Theology, Strategic Plan. She is married to Doug and they have two teenagers, Zach and Emily.
Miriam (Mimi) Dixon is senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Golden, Colorado, where she has served since 1985. Mimi completed her graduate education at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California (MDiv, 1978 and DMin, 1984). Mimi actively promotes Christian Spiritual Formation, crediting Richard Foster and Dallas Willard for their influence in her life and ministry.
A long-term missionary in Africa, Marti and her husband Len now live in Olympia, Washington. Marti works tirelessly as a conference and retreat speaker, and is former Director of Women in Medicine and Dentistry for the Christian Medical and Dental Society.
Richard J. Foster is founder, past president and current team member of Renovaré. Having studied at George Fox and Fuller Theological Seminary, Foster has served as a pastor and taught worldwide on spiritual formation. Author of dozens of articles and six books, including Celebration of Discipline, Richard continues to write on the spiritual life. He and his wife, Carolynn, have two grown children, Joel and Nathan, eight grandchildren, and live near Denver, Colorado.
Nathan Foster is Director of Community Life at Renovaré. Formerly, he served as the Andrews Chair in Spiritual Formation at Spring Arbor University and the Pastor of Spiritual Formation at a Free Methodist Church in Jackson, MI. Nathan is a licensed clinical social worker, a certified addictions counselor, and plays bass in the indie rock band Istra Blue. Learn more at nathanfosterprojects.com.
A former broadcast producer and marketing consultant, Emilie has authored several books including Clinging:The Experience of Prayer, Doors Into Prayer, The Reflective Executive, Wilderness Time, Souls in Full Sail and Green Leaves for Later Years. Emilie and Bill, her husband, live in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Chris Hall currently serves as President of Renovaré. Previously Chris was Director of Academic Spiritual Formation and Distinguished Professor of Theology at Eastern University. Chris is the author of a number of books, including The Mystery of God (with Steven D. Boyer; Baker Academic), Reading Scripture with the Church Fathers, Learning Theology with the Church Fathers, Worshiping with the Church Fathers (InterVarsity Press), and The Trinity (with Roger Olson; Eerdmans). Chris and his wife Debbie reside in Philadelphia. They have three grown children.
An entrepreneur his entire career, Bob initiated several new ventures in the insurance and financial fields. He is the founder of the Spiritual Formation Alliance. Now retired, Bob assists Christian ministries with strategic planning. Bob lives in Centennial, Colorado.
Director of Renovaré Korea, Brian serves both English and Korean speaking Christians from diverse backgrounds, being a bridge connecting Christians to Renovaré in Korea and the United States. Brian, his wife Yoon, and three children live in Korea.
Brian Morykon is a singer-songwriter, worship leader and web designer. He is part of the Renovaré ministry team and manages the Renovaré website. Currently on a cross-country adventure, Brian lives and travels in an RV with his wife Joy and three children, Lucy, Ramey and Liam. Hear his music at morykon.com.
Since 2005, Kai Nilsen has served as lead pastor at Peace Lutheran Church, outside of Columbus,Ohio, after having joined the staff in 1993. Beyond his work at Peace, Kai is on the Ministry Team for Renovaré—an ecumenical movement focusing in spiritual formation. He is also a teacher in the Renovaré Institute for Spiritual Formation, and a leader in the local ministerial association.
In 2009, Kai completed his Doctor of Ministry degree through Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. Kai’s book Renew Your Life: Discovering the Wellspring of God’s Energy was published in the fall of 2015.
Kai and his wife Patty are parents of four children—Anders, Annika, Leif and Siri.
Executive Assistant, Justine Olawsky, came to Renovaré in 2015 and is having a blast working with Joan, Carolyn, Brian, and Chris, as well as with the ministry team and board members. She has a special fondness for the Renovaré Book Club (being a voracious and catholic reader herself) and dotes upon the Renovaré Institute students. She lives in Renton, WA with her husband and daughter.
A worship leader, practitioner, composer, and clinician, George has built worship ministries within local churches and is the Producer of Renovaré Live! and the Producer/Performer of George Skramstad’s History of Worship. George and Pat, his wife, live in Wichita, Kansas, where he is Pastor of Music and Worship Arts at Central Community Church.
Joan has been with Renovaré since 1995 and currently serves as the Director of Finance. She and her husband Bill live in Denver, Colorado. They have two grown children and three grandchildren.
Jim is Associate Professor in the Religion and Humanities Department at Friends University, and has written A Spiritual Formation Workbook, and The Apprentice Series (The Good and Beautiful Life, The Good and Beautiful God,The Good and Beautiful Community). Jim and Meghan, his wife, live in Wichita, Kansas.
Siang Yang is Professor of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary and Senior Pastor at First Evangelical Church, Glendale, CA. He has published over 70 articles and authored several books including Full Service, Rest: Experiencing God’s Peace in a Restless World, and Disciplines of the Holy Spirit (with Douglas H. Gregg). Siang Yang and his wife Angela live in Arcadia, California.
An ordained minister, Donn is a self-described “musicianary” (musician, composer, and missionary). He has recorded several albums, served on various worship teams, and speaks before groups worldwide. He and his wife LaVoughn live in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
For over 25 years Jane, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), worked with adults who had experienced childhood trauma, utilizing what she termed imagery prayer. She has presented several papers on the topic at conferences for Christian therapists. Currently Jane is a certified spiritual director. She has led groups through the 30-week Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius and, with joy and gratitude, meets with directees via Skype and in her home in Chatsworth, CA where she and Dallas lived for most of their 57 years of marriage. Jane, her daughter Becky Heatley, and the family work with publishers and organizations to continue Dallas’s message of “living in the Kingdom now.”
A fantastic teacher and writer gifted in intercessory prayer, Gayle leads a variety of women’s Bible studies and retreats. Gayle and her husband Dick live in Salem, Oregon.
(1920 - 2016) A former pastor and author of God Loves the Dandelions, The Church that Refused to Die, and John in The Communicator’s Commentary series, Roger also served as a conference speaker. We honor Roger’s life and legacy.
Bill was the Founder and President of Preaching and Prayer Ministries, a ministry dedicated to emotional and physical healing. Ordained in the Lutheran church and a designated evangelist, he held missions throughout the US and was the author of I Prayed, He Answered and At Your Word, Lord. Bill dedicated his life to the cause of Christ and His church, and he was a founding member of Renovaré.
Professor of Philosophy at The University of Southern California, Dallas was an ordained minister who spoke at churches and Christian organizations worldwide. He was a founding member of Renovaré. He wrote, among others, Renovation of the Heart, Hearing God, and Knowing Christ Today. Dallas is survived by his wife Jane, son John, daughter and son-in-law Becky and Bill Heatley, and granddaughter Larissa, who continue his legacy and work.
