Life Without Lack + New Interview with Richard Foster
LETTER BY BRIAN MORYKON
Last week I read some of Dallas Willard’s Life Without Lack, a new book based on talks he gave from the twenty-third Psalm. Like hearing a symphony or watching a sunset, reading those rich words kindled in me a sense of God’s nearness. Language is a powerful force.
Language is how we communicate. And this month our focus is on communicating with God — the Discipline of Prayer.
Richard Foster reminds us, “Prayer catapults us onto the frontier of the spiritual life. Of all the Spiritual Disciplines prayer is the most central because it ushers us into perpetual communion with the Father.”
That quote is from Celebration of Discipline, and Paul Anderson has a new interview with Richard Foster reflecting on the 40th anniversary of the book. Paul also provides us with a practical walkthrough of the most famous prayer ever prayed.
And if you are like most human beings and struggle with distraction in prayer, Chris Hall gives us some practical advice from the church fathers on how to pray without ceasing.
