Savoring God + Richard Foster on Dallas Willard
LETTER BY BRIAN MORYKON
Balance is a core value for Renovaré. It’s vital, for example, to engage with God both in the analytical and in the intuitive realm. This month we focus on meditation, a more intuitive practice. Later we’ll focus on study, a more analytical discipline.
In a new podcast, Steve Fawver and Jan Johnson show us how meditation helps us savor God. Then in an article Jan explains how meditation is different than application.
Dallas Willard is someone we talk a lot about around here. If you’ve met him you understand why — few people have “the rare combination of exceptional brilliance and unadulterated goodness,” as Richard Foster puts it. And on the topic of role models, Chris Hall shares on finding prayer mentors in the Psalms.
There’s nothing more precious to meditate on than God himself putting on skin and subjecting himself to the worst humanity could dish out. May the wondrous humility of Christ sink into our hearts this coming week.
Hosanna!
