The Big Picture
LETTER BY BRIAN MORYKON
I’ll never forget the first Renovaré conference I attended 15 years ago.
Except that I’ve forgotten it. Every talk or sermon, that is — I can’t remember a word. No doubt they were rich, I’m just forgetful.
One thing did leave an indelible mark on me: the people. Discussion panels with Richard Foster, Dallas Willard, and other Ministry Team members were full of life and grace. Attendees from a wide swath of denominations worshipped together with one heart and voice. Conversations had immediate depth and transparency. Prayer for healing was available and prayer time was unhurried. In short, the Spirit of Christ was present and alive and at work in his people.
I’m happy to say these same things were present two weeks ago in Newberg, OR at the pastoral leadership conference (a panel is pictured above). It was a special time. We hope in the weeks to come to make available some talks from that conference (they’re worth remembering!).
Study is our focus discipline this month and today’s digest has several essays from the With-God Life Bible which we hope aids your study of Scripture. They provide a panoramic view of the Bible that can help make sense of the details.
Chris Hall is someone devoted to study, especially in regards to the desert fathers and mothers. Listen to or watch a wonderful 20-minute talk he gave at the Westmont academic conference a few weeks ago.
Grace and peace,
Brian Morykon
