God as my glasses
LETTER BY BRIAN MORYKON
“As for me, I choose… to stop posing as the judge of the universe. If it brought any good results I might continue, but to date it has carried me out into the desert and left me there.… I choose another road for myself. I choose to look at people through God, using God as my glasses, colored with his love for them.”
Missionary Frank Laubach penned that as he wrestled with how to show the Moro people God’s love and teach them how to read. He made it his aim to be in a continual heart to heart conversation with God, even “while looking into other eyes and listening to other voices.”
And, yes, praying continually is hard. But it need not be complicated. Prayer is a living, loving relationship, as Richard Foster shares in a tender Q&A podcast with Nathan Foster.
Rounding out this week, Jan Johnson helps us wait, rest, and delight through listening prayer. And Chris Hall gives practical wisdom from Abba Isaac on keeping our souls light.
