Karl Rahner (1904-1984) was a major theologian of the twentieth century and was one of the architects of the Second Vatican Council. His world-embracing vision influenced much of the Council's language and documents and provided theological support for openness and dialogue between Catholics and other Christians, as well as a recognition of God's love for all mankind.
