Reclaiming the Word “Seeking”
LETTER BY BRIAN MORYKON
Trevor Hudson wants to help Christians reclaim the word “seeking.”
“There is a narrative,” Trevor says on this week’s podcast, “that once you become a follower of Christ you are now no longer a seeker. But there’s a sense in which our seeking journey really begins as we open ourselves up to a Christ-following journey.”
Trevor was profoundly influenced by two Christ-seekers — Dallas Willard and St. Ignatius. His new book, Seeking God, draws on their wisdom and invites us to move beyond mere insight and into encounter with the living God.
Seeking God is the first selection for this year’s Renovaré Book Club, which begins in less than a month. (If you’re thinking of joining, early bird pricing ends tonight.)
Whether or not you join the Book Club, I hope you’ll take the opportunity to learn from Trevor Hudson. There are few people I’ve met who so radiate Christ. Listening to him teach slows me down and opens me up to God.
One way to hear Trevor teach is through a free six-session video series and study guide put together by Gary Moon and our friends at Conversatio. I’m thankful for their generosity in making this available at no cost. (See the bottom of this email for a link to this and other opportunities with Trevor.)
That’s all for now. I’ll leave you with a word from Dallas Willard: “It is unlikely that God plays games of hide-and-seek when we ask for guidance.” So as we seek God, may we do so with the confidence that God wants to be found (Jeremiah 29:13).
