We’re Leaning in to Listen
LETTER BY BRIAN MORYKON
Seventy years ago this month, a young black preacher sat at the kitchen table, his wife and newborn in the next room, counting the cost of his calling.
Sleepless, he prayed: “Lord, I’m down here trying to do what’s right… But Lord, I must confess that I’m weak now. I’m faltering. I’m losing my courage.”
At that moment he heard an inner voice respond: “Martin Luther, stand up for righteousness. Stand up for justice. Stand up for truth. And lo I will be with you, even until the end of the world.”
Two hours ago, I stood in that very kitchen beside Dr. King’s kitchen table on a tour so casual and down-home it felt like going to grandma’s house. Holy ground is often humble ground.
It was a fitting culmination for our Renovaré staff pilgrimage to Montgomery, Alabama. I look forward to sharing more soon from our soul-deepening week here.
In the meantime, instead of our usual newsletter, I’m sending you something we’ve wanted to send for a while, and now seems like the right time.
It’s an invitation to be heard.
If you’re like me, “filling out a survey” sounds about as much fun as a dental cleaning (apologies to my dentist friends and those who like cleanings). So we hope this one feels more like a conversation. Imagine sitting at a table with a Renovaré staff or board member who is leaning in to listen and learn how to serve you better.
Coffee or tea is poured and we’re all ears. Would you be willing to help us understand you more so we can offer resources and events that serve you better?
Fill out the 2026 Renovaré Survey here.
Peace and every good,
