Nate speaks with retired psychiatrist Dr. Hilary Johnson about how the indivisibility of body, mind, and spirit means that wellness is, at some level, always a spiritual endeavor — empowered by God in and through loving relationships.
Dr. Hilary Johnson is a retired Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist from the UK, with more than 30 years experience in the NHS. Throughout her career, she developed particular interests in neurodevelopmental conditions, sleep medicine, trauma-informed psychiatric practice, and the well-being of children, young people and families.
Since retiring from clinical practice in 2019, Hilary has been involved in teaching, mentoring and advising organizations on mental health. She serves as a trustee, supervisor and advisor for One-Eighty, a charity dedicated to preventing mental health difficulties in children and young people. She also contributes to the work of Keeping It Together, helping to equip Christian leaders to understand and respond wisely to mental health issues by integrating sound psychiatric knowledge and biblical wisdom, drawing together insights from medicine, psychology, and theology.
Hilary lives in Oxford with her husband, Paul. She is a mother, grandmother and enthusiastic beekeeper who enjoys mentoring new beekeepers.
