In this week’s episode of the Renovaré Podcast, Nathan talks with Miriam Rockness and Mimi Dixon about the life and faith of Lilias Trotter.
Show Notes
[ ] What has drawn you and fed you about Lilias Trotter’s life? How did you discover her?
[ ] Is it accurate to say we might have lost some of these pieces of her work had it not been for your journey?
[ ] What I’m hearing, Miriam, is that you said Yes, and it reminds me a little of Lilias. She said Yes. Mimi, do you have any sense as to where she had the courage to say Yes? What did you hear in her words?

Miriam (Mimi) Dixon began her ministry in 1979 serving as an associate pastor at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Seattle, Washington. From April of 1985 to May of 2019 she served as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Golden, Colorado. She earned both her MDiv and DMin degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary. Mimi is on the Renovaré Board of Directors and teaches for the Renovaré Institute. She is faculty for Next Frontiers, a ministry to pastors in transition, and actively promotes Christian Spiritual Formation, crediting Richard Foster and Dallas Willard for their influence in her life and ministry. Mimi has authored a biography of Richard Foster’s bestselling Celebration of Discipline, which is projected for release through Barclay Press in the autumn of 2023.
Miriam Huffman Rockness is a graduate of Wheaton College. She lived in Lake Wales, Florida where her husband, Dave Rockness, pastored the First Presbyterian Church for thirty-seven years and they raised their three children. Her love for Scripture and devotion to family informed her role in ministry: teaching community Bible studies and Family Living Seminars as well as writing a trilogy on home and family. Her admiration for the almost forgotten, Lilias Trotter, fueled her research for a biography, A Passion for the Impossible: The Life of Lilias Trotter, the companion book, A Blossom in the Desert: Reflections of Faith in the Art and Writings of Lilias Trotter and Images of Faith: Reflections Inspired by Lilias Trotter. She now lives in Mr. Dora, Florida where—with the support and partnership of the Lilias Trotter Legacy Board (committed in the mission “to let Lilias continue to speak”) —she is devoted to presenting the life and legacy of Lilias Trotter through film (Many Beautiful Things), Lilias-related publications, and social media.
