Hiring: Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

Remote · US-Based · freelance/contract · 25-30 hours per month (retainer available)

Job Overview

As Marketing & Social Media Coordinator, you’ll help invite people into a deeper life with God and into engagement with Renovaré through a gentle digital presence.

Working alongside our Content Manager and Director of Communications, you’ll create and execute digital campaigns for programs and events, adapt Renovaré content for social channels, and share updates and opportunities.

This freelance/contractor role will play a key part in shaping a countercultural social media and video content strategy that reflects Renovaré’s ethos — Christ-centered, gentle, wise, and welcoming.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with the Communications team to develop a social media strategy and posting rhythm
  • Create and manage social content calendars aligned with our ethos and goals
  • Create posts, reels, and shorts for Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Develop email campaign concepts in Mailchimp alongside our email marketing specialist
  • Create website landing pages in CraftCMS using our templated page builder (similar to Wordpress; we’ll train you)
  • Create and maintain media kits for events and for volunteer and giving opportunities
  • Gather photographs and testimonials from on-site events, volunteer opportunities, etc.
  • Work independently and with our graphic design and video contractors
  • Update our homepage with relevant content and events
  • Respond to comments and messages and lightly engage with other accounts
  • Run experiments, analyze performance, and thoughtfully adapt to meet goals

The Content You Share Will…

  • Enrich the inner life of the person scrolling
  • Reinforce Renovaré’s identity as a trusted guide for spiritual formation
  • Ground people in Renovaré’s Core Ideas and point them toward abiding in Jesus
  • Extend inviting and accessible onramps to engagement and giving
  • Build trust and earn attention over the long haul, not try to go viral
  • Offer a small taste that encourages people to dig deeper, not be an end in itself
  • Be calm, wise, encouraging, unobtrusive, thoughtful, helpful, and human (no generative AI)

What We’re Looking For

  • A lover of Jesus and apprentice of Jesus in Kingdom living.
  • A good listener with a teachable heart who gives and receives feedback graciously.
  • 2+ years of marketing and social media management experience for companies or nonprofits
  • A deep familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, YouTube
  • A sensitivity for how to engage younger audiences without alienating our older audience
  • An intuition of when to adopt trends and when to ignore them
  • The ability to thoughtfully select highlights and write compelling, concise, and warm copy
  • Experience with content calendar creation and scheduling tools
  • Familiarity with email marketing strategy and platforms, particularly Mailchimp
  • Ability to work remotely and communicate via tools like Basecamp
  • An organized and motivated self-starter who can manage multiple projects
  • Really Helpful: Simple video editing and templated graphic design skills (e.g. Capcut and Adobe Express)

Other Details

  • Fully remote
  • Compensation based on experience
  • 5 – 8 hours per week; 25 – 30 hours per month; retainer available
  • You’ll meet once a week with the communications team, once a month with the full staff, and ad-hoc as needed.
  • Travel isn’t required, but is something we may explore for certain events.

What You’ll Need to Apply

A resumé is a great way to concisely convey who you are and what you can do. We also understand that for a contract position like this, some applicants may have their own freelance business and don’t maintain a resumé. So if you have a personal or business website that covers the same info, that’s fine, too.

In case you’d like to prepare before opening the form, here are some of the non-trivial questions in the application:

  • In 150 words or less, what drew you to apply?
  • In 150 words or less, how does your life with God shape your life at work?
  • What other nonprofits do you think are doing a great job with social media and email marketing in a similar tone and ethos as Renovaré?
  • What is an example of a marketing or social media trend that works well for another organization or business but wouldn’t be a fit for Renovaré? Why?
  • If we interviewed you, what is one question you would ask us?

You’ll also record a video that answers in three minutes or less…

  • How would you explain Renovaré briefly to someone who isn’t familiar?
  • What kind of person does Renovaré help and how do we help them?
  • How will you help Renovaré expand social and video channels while maintaining our ethos?

Sound like you?
