Confessions: Anchors for the Soul
A Renovaré Virtual Workshop for Lent

There are certain truths that we can’t fully grasp until we say them out loud to other people.

There’s a name for this kind of public truth-telling: Confession.

The Bible highlights several forms of confession for the people of God. We confess:

  • What we believe
  • What we doubt
  • What we’ve done wrong
  • Who we are in Christ

Our relationships — with God and with each other — will disintegrate if we don’t practice bringing these truths to the surface through spoken confessions.

Unfortunately, Confession in its different forms is a bit of a lost discipline, especially in our era of isolation and low trust.

In this virtual workshop, Richella Parham will help us to reclaim a working understanding of four essential forms of Confession (Confessions of Faith, Doubt, Sin, and Belovedness) and cast a vision for how to practice these disciplines in our Christian communities.

Don’t worry, we aren’t going to confess our sins to strangers on the screen! But we will spend time reflecting and discussing how we’ve experienced confession (or not) and what it would look like to practice confessions more regularly as disciples of Jesus.

This workshop is a wonderful way to step into the season of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 18).
