Editor's note:

Thursdays here on Renovare.org we often run “special features” about Renovarian happenings. Today, it is our very great pleasure to post a feature that is special indeed, in the form of a letter from Renovaré’s board chair, Jon Bailey

—Renovaré Team

It brings me great joy to announce that Nathan Foster is joining the Renovaré staff as our Director of Community Life.

Starting on July 1, 2016, Nathan will direct his energy to help create and cultivate community life throughout the Renovaré constituency through speaking, coaching, and writing. I can think of no one more uniquely suited to serve in this position. Nathan is a gifted communicator and writer. Perhaps more importantly for this position, he has a heart for building up others in Christlikeness. Many of you, myself included, have already benefited from his warm generosity and gracious care.

Nathan is the author of The Making of an Ordinary Saint: My Journey from Frustration to Joy with the Spiritual Disciplines and Wisdom Chaser: Finding My Father at 14,000 Feet. He will be leaving his professorship at Spring Arbor University where he served in the Andrews Chair for Spiritual Formation.

(I know many of you regularly listen to Nathan’s weekly Renovaré Podcasts and read his bi-monthly “Heart to Heart” letters. Be sure to check out the current “Heart to Heart,” which was published just this week. It’s entitled A Hope for a New Reformation of the Church, Part One, and it’s a challenging and exhilarating read.)

Nathan is also a licensed clinical social worker and a certified addictions counselor. He is married to Christy and they have two children.

“Something feels really right about moving into this position at this juncture in my life,” shares Nathan. “I deeply love the vision and work of Renovaré and there is no place I would rather pour my time and energy into.”

Our president, Chris Hall, encapsulates our enthusiasm at bringing Nathan on staff full-time. “The Lord has been very good to Renovaré in providing us with Nathan as our first Director of Community Life. Nathan’s gift-mix is rich and his heart for other people is warm. I look forward to working with Nathan for many years to come.”

Please keep Nathan and Christy in your prayers, may they move from strength to strength during this season of transition.

Blessings,

Jonathan Bailey
